Leanne Barlow(nee Batterby) arrived in the street with her family in 1997 and I couldn't have been happier
Leane is played by the lovely Jane Danson and she plays the role well
Leanne was trouble with a capital T along with her step sister Toyah. Leanne was loud obnoxious,she smoked and was as funny as hell.
If you saw her parents you would understand why Leanne was a hell raiser. Les and Janis were not shy about cat calling across the street at the neighbours when something went pear shaped for them literally making asses out of themselves and were as common as anything.
Leanne is a sensitive girl deep down, made her share of mistakes but she's pulled through the wreckage she's made of her life.
The one thing that stands out in my mind about Leanne is that she is a beautiful girl who fought like hell for people to accept her , no one dare throw her past in her face though because they'd get a thumping they'd never soon forget
LEANNE'S HISTORY SO FAR
Leanne has been the centre of many of the storylines on Corrie since she first appeared on the show.
Leanne once played her cd player so loud with her fave music that Curly Watts who lived next door stormed into the battersby's home went straight upstairs to the girls bedroom and he threw their cd player out the window.
Upon seeing this happen Les punched Curly and Leanne said proudly " Nice one dad"
Leanne met Nick Tilsey and at 17 they ran off to get married , there was no teen pregnancy until after they got married.
Leanne and Nick's parents weren't best pleased with the news that they got married then expecting a baby.
But Leanne and Nick decided to make a go of it until he got involved in nude modelling and his boss told him that a baby would only get in the way of his career as a model.
Unfortunately for Leanne Nick convinced her into having an abortion. Once Nick decided to move to Canada to work for his uncle that was the last straw for Leanne and she broke it off with him and stayed in Weatherfield.
Leanne worked at the corner shop for awhile until Rita Sullivan's foster daughter accused her of stealing from the cah register.
Leanne then got involved in drugs and drinking heavily and even got involved with a guy named Jez quigley whom got Leanne involved in the robbery at the rovers return pub.
Leanne was beaten up by Jez's men trying to stop the men from stealing from her boss then left weatherfield in disgrace but she soon returned to the street when Les found her working at a strip club he went too.
He dragged his daughter kicking and screaming back to the street where they lived and then tried to get some work.
Leanne then started a romance with Mike Baldwin's grandson and then wound up sleeping with his father Danny.
When that affair was exposed and Jamie dumped her Leanne left the street again trying to find work, but circumstances forced her turn to prostitution. Not telling her new boyfriend Liam what she's been doing to earn money.
It all came to a head when Liam's older brother Paul discovered what Leanne was really doing he grabbed her and put her in the trunk of his car and he wound up crashing it . Paul died from injuries from the crash but Leanne was unscathed but frightened to death.
Leanne then was exposed as a prostitute and was ashamed, but soon got out of trouble again until she set up a restaurant business with Paul Duckworth who set the business on fire.
Leanne then began and Romance with Peter Barlow the son of her old school teacher Ken.
All was well until Peter's drinking got out of hand and she could not face being with him anymore.
Leanne left town unaware just out of hand his drinking was when she returned back to weatherfield and found out his flat was set on fire by a cigarette when he fell asleep that left his son Simon with smoke inhalation and afraid to be with his father.
Upon arrival back to the street Leanne began her romance with Peter again, but made him promise to go to AA and to make an effort not to repeat the cycle again.
They soon got engaged
Unbenowst to Peter on the hen and stag do night Leanne slept with her ex Nick. After the crash Peter was discovered to be a victim in a tram crash that left many residents injured and with three fatalites.
Leanne married Peter while he was in the hospital on deaths door ..... but a weeke before their wedding blessing Leanne became enraged when she found out Nick got Peter drinking again and went over and punched him in the mouth.
Leanne went to the rovers return to cool off when she discovered this news but was followed to the bathroom by Carla Connor whom fancied Peter. The pair argued in the women's washroom unaware that Peter's sister Tracey was in one of the cubicles.
When Carla left the ladies room Tracey confronted Leanne and then threatened her back at the flat.
Leanne did not take her sister in laws crap and quickly told her to not threaten her or call her names
Then Peter found out that Nick was trying to run away with his wife.... believing that Leanne was planning on leaving him.
Peter exposed their affair at the wedding blessing , leaving Leanne to want to flee from the street for good and having to explain to an upset Simon why she was leaving.
If it wasn't for Ken Peter would not have seen sense and he went after his wife to bring her back home.
Upon arriving at the train station Peter saw the train leave but when he looked around he found Leanne standing there in tears and said she couldn't leave. They hugged and kissed and went back home to be with Peter's son.
